What is a Race Night??
‘A race night is a fundraising event where guests watch pre-recorded horse races on a big screen and place small bets, with profits going to charity, schools, or community groups.’
How does it work?
‘Unlike real racing where you might know the form, in a race night nobody has any inside information. The races are pre-recorded, but crucially, nobody at your event knows the results beforehand, including the organizers.
You receive a proper race card showing the horses’ names, jockey silks, and running order, but here’s the key difference from live racing – you can’t see any odds or form guides. This means every horse has an equal chance in your mind, making it a pure gamble based on horse names, colours, or just gut feeling.
Before each race, you place your bet with volunteer bookmakers (usually committee members armed with calculators and serious expressions). You might back “Chocolate Fireguard” because you love the name, or “Red Rum’s Revenge” because you fancy the jockey’s colours. The stakes are kept sensibly low – we’re talking pounds, not your mortgage money.’
We are also looking for sponsors for each of the 9 races at £20/race.
We will introduce your business/enterprise at the start of the race and there will be logos, your social media links and a QR link to your website displayed in the hall all night
